IESS apologizes and sets a plan for affiliates with disabilities
The Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS), through the Teodoro Maldonado Carbo Hospital, implemented a transportation service directed to affiliates with disabilities. This, after learning through the press about the problems faced by Juan Jose Cruz Jaramillo, 82, who was taken by his family in the healthcare center for treatment, lying on a handmade stretcher, on the bucket of a truck.
Daily El Universo published the case in the issue of Friday, June 3. His son Juan Jose Cruz Mora, 51, said that his father suffered from osteoarthritis, so was practically unable to move, so twice a week he had to go to the IESS Hospital to receive postsurgical healings. It was then that he told he “knocked doors” in the institution requesting an ambulance, but he did not receive the service, and before the need of mobilizing his father, he improvised with his brothers a stretcher to take him there.
