II round of negotiations with the EU is being developed

Posted On 24 Mar 2014

Unión Europea-Ecuador-NegociacionesNegotiators from Ecuador and the European Union (EU) started today the second round of negotiations for a Trade Development.

At 09:00 was scheduled the inauguration of the event, with the presence of the Minister of Foreign Trade, Francisco Rivadeneira. European delegates, at the moment, are already installed on the site.

Services, intellectual property, customs and procurement issues will be addressed during four days in Manta.

In mid-January the first round took place in Brussels, Belgium. “Initial approaches were made in several areas, but without agreements yet,” said the Ministry of Commerce.

Ecuador entrepreneurs hope the agreement will be completed soon, because in December expires the GSP Plus and its tariff benefits in the EU.
