In 10 days the Catalan government will decide if the independence query is performed
The spokesman for the regional government of Catalonia, Francesc Homs, yesterday set October 15 as the deadline to decide if the referendum on the independence is viable given the interim suspension ordered by the Spanish Constitutional Court.
Although the pro-query parties decided on Friday to continue with the preparations for the vote scheduled for November 9, thus defying the court order, Homs in a radio interview did not rule out the possibility of aborting the scrutiny.
The spokesman, when asked about the day he will decide whether the Catalan government considers possible to organize consultations with all democratic guarantees, he responded: “about October 13, 14 or 15.”
“Any of these terms can be extended (…) but this can not be decided, if this has to be decided, it would be on 7 or 8 November,” he added.
Parallel to the statements of Homs, the regional government of Artur Mas has allowed foreign residents in Catalonia to apply for registration in the electoral registry of November 9.
