In Ecuador, the unemployment rate in April reached 4.7%
Employment stood at 63.4% nationwide in April of this year, when in 2021 of the same month it was 62.5%. But there are other figures that show that the situation still demands a strategy to solve the labor problem.

The unemployment rate in Ecuador reached 4.7% in April of this year, compared to 5.1% in the same period of the previous year, that is, it experienced a reduction of 0.4 percentage points which, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC), is not significant.
The figures speak of the pending that this Government still has, to improve the economic context that allows private companies to establish new jobs. Young people complain that when they leave with their university degree they do not find employment easily, a problem that has not been solved for years.
Although this year there has been an improvement in the recovery of full or quality employment (the rate rose from 30.8% to 32.5%), the levels of underemployment continue to be high. According to the INEC, this rate, which also speaks of the quality of the labor market offer, closed at 23.9%, the variation is minimal in relation to April 2021 when it was 23.3%.
Looking at the analysis by area, the unemployment rate was 5.9% for the urban area ; while for the rural area it was 2.4%.
There are more women without work , the rate is 5.8% versus men who is 3.9%. The difference of 1.9 percentage points between both groups, whose variation is statistically significant.
