Technology causes intellectual property to be updated as well. In Guayaquil, the international seminar on intellectual property, second edition, was held with the support of the Espíritu Santo University of Specialties (UEES).
Lawyers and even marketing experts attended the meeting, because the subject was not exclusive to legal experts, the doctor of law Andrés Merchán, specialized in intellectual property, told Diario EXPRESO.
“The issue is not a future, it is a present and what is needed is to be well trained,” said Merchán.
Countries like Mexico, Colombia and Argentina are developing artificial intelligence. In the case of Ecuador, laws that open opportunities for investment in technology have been approved.
The subject of intellectual property should not be given only in the Faculty of Law, it should be given in marketing, medicine, economics, etc. Why? “When registering a copyright or a trademark, intangible assets are being created; With this I can get a credit based on the valuation of that copyright or trademark”, Merchán highlighted.
In the seminar, technology for ports was also explained and there was even talk about not only accounting software, but also legal and administrative software that is being developed in Ecuador. “There are good developers here and it is necessary to learn about intellectual property, which is why we are already preparing the third edition of these seminars,” said Merchán.
