Indigenous ask audience to the Assembly
The subsidiary of the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities of Ecuador (CONAIE for its Spanish acronym) in the Andean region, ECUARUNARI , yesterday asked a hearing to President of the Assembly before the reopening of the second debate of the draft Water Law. Thus reported Carlos Perez Guartambel, President of the indigenous guild.
The indigenous want to present to the Assembly their views on the five themes of dissent within the draft law, deprivatization for equitable redistribution, functions of water boards, release of water sources from mining and ban of extractive activities.
The Alianza PAíS (AP) bloc will reopen the second debate of the project with the slogan referrering that the Single Water Authority is exercised by the State under stewardship functions
The officialism supports this position in the Constitution, which notes that the State reserves the right to manage, regulate , control and manage the strategic sectors of its exclusive jurisdiction.
