Inter-Parliamentary Assembly concluded in Quito

The 128th edition of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU) held in the capital of Ecuador, ended yesterday with a series of recommendations for the 97 participating countries and with an exhortation to Syria, nation for which they called for an urgent peace agreement.
The President of the IPU, Abdelwahad Radi said that the number of Syrian refugees, which currently amounts to one million, keeps growing considerably.
Moreover, the president of the National Assembly of Ecuador, Fernando Cordero, referring to another issue addressed, said that the request to stop sexual violence against women worldwide, was also discussed. For him, such violence is a “scourge afflicting humanity“.
