Interagua rectified in a letter sent to the Municipality
Posted On 04 Dec 2012
The CEO of Interagua, Oscar Garcia, sent a letter to the mayor of Guayaquil, Jaime Nebot, to formally rectify on the investment plan of the water and sanitary and storm sewers contract, after last Wednesday became public that the company had breached the contract by deciding to stop investing if the water tariffs were not raised.
The letter is divided into three points:
- The concessionaire defined the incident as a “misunderstanding” in reference to the arbitration process that was carried out by the fixation of the reference rate for the third five years of service. “Consequently, Interagua has instructed its lawyers to conduct the corresponding correction, removing those controversial paragraphs.”
- The company reiterates its commitment to the City Council to fulfill its investment obligations under the contractual framework.
- The concessionaire encourages the Municipality and the Municipal Public Company of Water and Sewer Services of Guayaquil (Emapag for its Spanish acronym) to meet in order to determine the schedule of upcoming investments.
It was learned that until yesterday afternoon Interagua did not get response by the Municipality. (MZ)
