International Activists Found “Inconsistencies” In Ecuadorian Initiative Yasuní.ITT
“Inconsistencies” and “delays” in the Yasuni-ITT Ecuadorian project were found by activists and international delegations, which seeks to stop underground oil part of the Amazon in exchange for international compensation.
Mauricio Alvarez, geographer and environmentalist from Costa Rica said: “There is a clear use policy in the subject and the Government has not been consistent,” and criticized “the delay that has taken the term” the Government and the “political use” of the program.
This initiative aims to protect an area of the Ecuadorian Amazon’s most biodiversity in the world, that’s why Ecuador claims to the international communities a compensation of $ 3,600 million (twelve years), the income that the country would get through the exploitation of the fields located in that area in order to maintain the initiative.
