Assembly Member Cesar Rodriguez Drops off the Ruling Party
Yesterday afternoon, Cesar Rodriguez resigned from the ruling movement Alianza País (AP) to immediately run for presidential candidate of the Ecuadorian National Assembly.
Rodriguez would not confirm whether he will make an alliance with the opposition parties. “I’m leaving because I think the political revolution is an option. I’m leaving because I think that political organizations do not have to create dramas (…). I’m leaving because I have the firm conviction that I have nothing to do with an organization that has to recover its origins and postulates.”
On his relationship with President Rafael Correa he said he did not met him although he had agree to do that and downplayed the possible charges of treason on the part of members of the movement. (BG)
