For three days, unions of banana producers and exporters will discuss the sustainability of the commercialization, as well as the challenges and challenges , in the XVII edition of the International Convention , which will take place from October 5 next.

On this occasion and due to the covid-19 pandemic , for the first time the event of the banana industry will be totally virtual; In this way, according to the Ecuadorian Banana Exporters Association (AEBE) organizing entity, participation and reach will be expanded globally, promoting strategic dialogue between the different actors.
During the three days of the convention, a strategic agenda will be addressed that aims to strengthen productive capacities to improve the competitiveness of this industry.
It was reported that participants will have unlimited access to conferences , exchanges of experiences, trade exhibitions and business roundtables , on topics such as: financing for sustainable development, Blockchain strategies, actions in the face of the health emergency , plans and prospects for commercial investment. , in other aspects.
“We reinvent ourselves as an association and we have built an event of international stature that responds to the current needs of producers, exporters and suppliers, ” said Marianella Ubilla , president of the AEBE .
He added that the meeting will allow the exchange of views with global markets . Ecuador is the largest banana exporter in the world due to its high quality, “for this reason we want to strengthen a sustainable production chain , which allows us to open more opportunities for everyone to benefit the national economy .”
In recent years, he said, the AEBE has worked under a strategic vision focused on generating better competitive conditions that favor all actors in the value chain , promoting greater technology to achieve certifications that support the high standards of Ecuadorian bananas.
José Antonio Hidalgo , executive director of the association, stressed that the objective is to gain a greater international market , for which structural improvements in the productive conditions of the farms must be implemented, promote greater agility in procedures, generate sources of financing, among other actions .
“Every day we face great challenges, so as an industry we must respond with unity; the convention will make it possible to capitalize on national and international experiences that promote the construction of a long-term sustainable vision ”, he pointed out.
For this edition the event will be called Banana Time , in which it is expected to bring together the main national and international players in the fruit industry.
