Interpol will analyze on October 23 red diffusion against Rafael Correa
Ecuadornews:

On October 23 the request made by the Ecuadorian justice to the Interpol of a red diffusion to locate and capture extradition for the purpose of former President Rafael Correa for the case of the alleged kidnapping of politician Fernando Balda will be analyzed
According to Felipe Rodríguez, lawyer of Balda, the Verification Committee of Interpol, will make that day the revision of several folders, not only that of Correa, therefore he considered that it is not a case of persecution against him.
“What is done is to analyze all the documentation but the decision is taken later (…) without the red diffusion nobody has the coercive power to deprive him of his freedom or apprehend him anywhere …”, he added.
Rodriguez argued that he could even be detained in Belgium, where he lives with his family, but being married to a citizen of that nation and having children of that nation, the former president will have greater protection.
He added that Correa has stopped giving lectures in several countries and has preferred to remain in Belgium because, in his opinion, he is afraid of what could happen outside that territory.
“If he stays in Belgium he will become a fugitive from justice, who criticized so much in 2006 in his campaign,” he said.
Last July, the National Court of Justice (CNJ), issued to the director of the Interpol in Quito the request to comply with the provision of Judge Daniella Camacho that the institution proceed to the immediate location and capture of Correa because he did not comply the precautionary measure to present every 15 days. The former president appealed to that decision but a court rejected it. (I)
