First export of hats to India
Ecuadornews:
An Ecuadorian company sent the first shipment of traditional straw hat to the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay).
The operation was completed in September with the support of the commercial office of ProEcuador in that location. The design and manufacture of the emblematic product was thought exclusively for that market and is available in the Devotie boutique, located in Mumbai.
The merchandise has had an excellent reception. “The production process of the hat took several months. It was necessary to design a product that responds to the fashion trends of the Asian country.
The result was unique, a combination of the identity of Ecuador and India, “said Cristina Chiriboga, director of ProEcuador in India. The toquilla straw hat is an emblematic craft for Ecuador and the world. Because of its unique fabric, UNESCO declared it an intangible heritage of humanity.
