iPad May Be Banned in Shanghai
Posted On 23 Feb 2012
Apple’s iPad can still be sold in Shanghai, but not for long since a court ruling over naming rights was suspended on Thursday.
Chinese firm Proview accuses Apple of infringing its trademark and called for the courts to prevent the Cupertino based company from selling the tablet in the city.
Apple requested to suspend the decision until a bigger case is heard this month, the court agreed. The company founded by Steve Jobs claims it acquired worldwide rights for the iPad name in 2009. While Proview affirms that it owned the rights of the iPad name since 2000, years before Apple’s iPad invention became a reality.
