Ivonne Baki informed to the Assembly about the Yasuní ITT initiative
Yesterday, the project manager appeared before the Committee on biodiversity of the Assembly to reaffirm that the priority of the President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, is to preserve the underground oil that lies in that area of the Amazon.
Baki said that the international trust funds totaled $10 million, while in the national, $2 million, also said that if the various contributions offered materialize, its would add $336,7 million.
The officer attended the Assembly at the request of the Legislative Commission, and said that it is expected that the resources will be used in various areas such as conservation, protection and promotion.
Baki met last week with Correa, and some Ministers, to decide that the project would continue in analysis, since still it has not raised what was expected, was informed by a press release.
When finally the Ecuadorian Government decided to carry out the named ‘Plan B’ which consists of exploiting the axis Ishpingo-Tambococha-Tiputini (ITT) the first barrel of oil it would take to be delivered within three to five years.
