Jamie Cevallos presents the conflicts of migrants in his book
Jaime Cevallos, a jounalist from Quito, presented his first book “When the ball started to roll,” where he criticizes the society by the exploitation and discrimination of migrants.
With over 25 years of journalistic experience, Cevallos tells the story of foreigners who arrive at Spain in search of a better life, who in addition to deal with the acceptance difficulties of that society, have to undergo exploitation by other migrants .
La trama del libro inicia en un pueblo afroecuatoriano, donde el fútbol se ha convertido en la esperanza para salir de la pobreza, la violencia y el racismo que viven sus habitantes.
“In the novel I have tried to give every character a voice, and not only that, but an accent, because an Ecuadorean does not speak like a Colombian and vice versa. And neither of them, of course, talks like a Spanish,” says Cevallos, who has been based in Barcelona, Spain for fifteen years and is a correspondent for daily El Universo.
