Suga said on statements quoted by Kyodo news agency that Japan will strengthen surveillance and that it will “maintain a close relationship with the U.S., South Korea, China and Russia“, with whom Japan forms the six-party talks about North Korea.
On its behalf, North Korea said today in the Rodong Sinmun Newspaper that U.S. military bases in Japan are being considered as targets for attack if an armed conflict in the Korean Peninsula begins, specifically naming Miasawa, Yokosuka and Okinawa bases.
Likewise, the North Korean newspaper recalled that the Pyongyang regime will exercise its right to a pre-emptive nuclear strike against its enemies and that Japan would not be “an exception“.
