Japan with tsunami warning after 6.8 magnitude earthquake
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 magnitude was registered this Friday in northeastern Japan and triggered a tsunami warning in the region, public broadcaster NHK reported.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake occurred at 04.22 local time (19.22 GMT Friday) with its hypocenter at sea about 10 km depth off the coast of Fukushima.
The authorities triggered a tsunami warning and hundreds of people were evacuated in several locations in the west coast of the country and the public broadcaster showed the image of boats setting sail to avoid the impact of the waves without have been reports of damage or casualties.
The authorities reported that nuclear power plants in the area, including the rugged Fukushima Daichi plant, did not register any kind of problem.
