Ecuadornews:
Vice President Jorge Glas arrived in Quito on August 9 to testify in two cases of corruption: the previous investigation by Singue – an oil contract – and the preliminary inquiry in the Odebrecht case for an alleged illicit association.
Glas appeared at the Prosecutor’s Office at 8:15 local time to testify on the Singue case, and then did the same before prosecutor Diana Salazar on the Odebrecht case.
The Attorney General’s Office last week investigated more than 20 former officials and public servants, including the country’s vice president, for alleged irregularities in the contract signed in 2012 for the exploration and exploitation of an oil field in the Amazon, in the so-called Singue block.
The name of Glas also appears in the so-called Odebrecht case, under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office for alleged bribes paid by the Brazilian firm in the country. (I)
