José Serrano opened several fronts for filtered audio

President Lenin Moreno sent a message yesterday, March 5, 2018: “Take a step aside,” he said without giving names, but referring to the filtered audio in which we hear José Serrano, head of the Assembly, speaking with Carlos Pólit, former fugitive comptroller.

“When the news of every day has to do with episodes of this nature, democracy is sick,” said the President. “It is our obligation to dignify politics, to endow it with ethics. We want to leave behind embarrassing moments that threaten the dignity of the entire country.”

In his capacity as president of Alianza País (AP), Moreno recalled that the Ethics Committee was asked to analyze what happened, given that there are militants of the movement involved. In the audio, the President of the Assembly is heard saying that the Attorney General, Carlos Baca, must be “lowered” from office.

Precisely, yesterday afternoon the Committee was installed and received José Serrano. When concluding, he said: “We have talked about some specific details of words, of comments that are given in that conversation with the former comptroller fugitive from justice, where there is actually an inspection investigation on which he was working and I will continue working while I am an assembly member, until the last day”.

The fundamental thing is the country’s institutions. “And here I say to all our compatriots that I’m not going to be part of a group of correístas assembly members and the bloc managed by Guillermo Lasso put in danger the democracy and the governability of President Lenin Moreno.” Serrano has until noon today, March 6, to present extra documentation to the Commission.
