Juanes Writes for Peace in Colombia
Colombian singer Juanes said yesterday that “important threads are moving” to build peace in his country.
In an article he wrote for the Bogota newspaper El Tiempo he recounted his experience with former Colombian guerrillas. The artist said “this is a unique moment in which we can move towards peace” in the neighboring country of the north.
In the article Juanes recounts his experience with former rebels from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), he stated “today I want to hear the perpetrators because this is part of my pursuit of peace.”
Colombia drags a half-a-century internal armed conflict, involving the ultra-right paramilitaries, guerrillas and state agents, which has left thousands of dead or displaced people in that period. (ARL)
