Judge Encalada: ‘Gutemberg Vera did El Universo Sentence’
Yesterday El Universo Case had an unexpected turn. According to information released by that newspaper, the defense attorney Joffre Campaña read a letter written by judge Monica Encalada to the prosecutor of Guayas, Antonio Gagliardo. In the letter, the judge said, “the lawyer of President Rafael Correa, Dr. Gutemberg Vera, offered money to do the sentence against newspaper El Universo“.
He also presented a short video in which judge Monica Encalada was saying she was about to leave the country because of its dangerous situation. “This will give a lot to talk about in this country,” said Campaña, who says that according to these statements, Dr. Gutemberg Vera is ‘Chucky Seven’.
According to the report released by El Universo, the brief filed by Encalada shows that Judge Juan Paredes did not make the judgment. According to the judge, Gutemberg Vera is the one who would have made the sentence, added Campaña.
Ecuavisa TV reported that judge Encalada left the country to Bogotá, Colombia yesterday afternoon on an international flight in Avianca airlines at 17:00 in the Airport Jose Joaquin de Olmedo, Guayaquil. (AV)
