Judge orders prohibition to leave the country and electronic shackle for Fernando Alvarado

Judge Silvia Sánchez, of the National Court of Justice, has ordered the prohibition to leave the country against the former National Secretary of Communication Fernando Alvarado, who has been ordered to wear an electronic shackle in addition to appearing every fifteen days before the courts.
The hearing of charges has been made this midnight, at the request of the State Attorney General, who investigates Alvarado for the alleged crime of embezzlement in the organization of the Saturday of the government of Rafael Correa.
Alvarado, who was learned by agents of the GIR in Manta, this morning, gave statements to the Prosecutor’s Office between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at the end of which, the General Prosecutor’s Office, by requesting an urgent act, requested the National Court of Justice, a hearing to formulate charges.
The Prosecutor’s Office says it has found elements of conviction within the preliminary investigation phase that would reveal a possible participation of Alvarado in the facts that are investigated. Once the raffle is held at the National Court of Justice, a judge must hold the arraignment, which could take place between midnight on Wednesday and 03:00 on Thursday.
Fernando Alvarado arrived at the Prosecutor’s Office in a car of the GIR, escorted by the agents, who moved him from Manta, where he was apprehended this morning after not appearing to testify after two calls. The former secretary was in Ghana, in Africa, and according to him has declared in a statement that spread this morning, has arrived in Ecuador on Monday, and will remain in the country until Friday.
The former secretary already gave testimony on July 18, for the kidnapping of Fernando Balda, by videoconference from Nigeria, between the Attorney General Paúl Pérez. (I)
