Labor and tax laws continue to weigh heavily on the competitiveness of Ecuador
Ecuador is not Switzerland, but they again share the ranking. The European country is the first in the list that measures the Global Competitiveness Index and Ecuador ranks 76 out of a total of 140 countries. This year, the country has reappeared in the report prepared by the World Economic Forum.
In 2013, it ranked 71st out of 148 competitors, but in in 2014 the country did not appear in the ranking.
Ecuador returned to the 2015 ranking with a score of 4.1 out of a total of 7. While the last time it was on the list it reached one more tenth, 4.2. As a reference, it´s enough to see the 5.76 points of Switzerland, as the most remarkable country in the world in terms of competitiveness, or the Latin American reference: Chile, with 4.58 points.
