President Guillermo Lasso has lamented the assassination of the President of Haiti, Jovenel Moise, perpetrated this morning in Port-au-Prince.

“We reject the vile assassination of the president of Haiti Jovenel Moïse and the first lady Martine Moïse. An inhuman, cowardly and barbaric act. Our sincere condolences to his loved ones and all the Haitian people. Ecuador is with Haiti in these difficult times ”, Lasso wrote on his social networks.
Lasso met Moise in Quito, on May 23, when he had reached the change of command in which Lasso assumed the presidency. Moise also met with the outgoing president, Lenín Moreno, at the Carondelet Palace.
