Latin America Green Awards highlighted project of two Ecuadorians
In the third edition of the Latin American Green Awards to the winners of ten categories among which two Ecuadorian projects in the areas of Forests and Oceans were chosen.
In total thirty environmental proposals from 25 different countries participated.
During the awards event developed in the Hilton Colon hotel the Colombian proyect Vajillas Corona was declared winner in the Water category; in Biodiversity and Wildlife category the award went to Plantss of Chile; in the Woods category, Eric Hortsman´s Ecuadorian Project, Restoring Dry Woods in the protector wood Cerro Blanco, was the winner.
In the Oceans category where two Ecuadorians participated, the Ecuadorian Antarctic Institute, led by Arturo Cadena and endorsed by the Espol with its project development of submarine robots for Antarctic exploration, won.
Deputy Mayor Domenica Tabacchi said that Guayaquil´s society must focus on sustainability and greening the city in environmental matters; she said that the victory is for the planet for the various initiatives presented at the event. “Guayaquil opens its doors, its heart and opens the much needed green awareness in the country and the world,” noted Deputy Mayor.
