The CNE will approve constituencies in September
Posted On 25 Aug 2016

The National Electoral Council yesterday socialized the constituencies divisions of the province of Guayas, unaltered in relation to that used in the elections of 2013. CNE president Juan Pablo Pozo expects that political leaders of the province propose changes in the provincial electoral division if needed.
“Yes, we can make a change, for example, we accept proposals to subdivide the Tarqui parish and other parishes, even counties can belong to other constituencies,” stated the head of the electoral body.
The fixed and unchanging, he said, is that provinces will have four constituencies and each region will choose five Assembly members, as it happened in the elections of 2013. The idea, he said, is to improve the division laid out without major changes, as electors already know their constituency.
