Latin American Countries Will Evaluate The Free Trade Area
Posted On 27 Dec 2010
On January 6 in Santiago de Chile trade ministers from Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, and Panama will evaluate the proposal of the Peruvian President Alan García which seeks the creation of a free trade area with the countries of the Pacific coast.
Last October Alan García suggested the creation of a system of “deep” integration for the Pacific countries, which includes free entry of assets, services, capital, and people.
The proposal seeks the integration in order to work better in relations with other countries through the new universal systems such as the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation).”
García believes that this is the most daring act that the region can make at this time.
