Few foreign airlines arrive to Guayaquil
The tourism sector guilds will meet with the Minister of Tourism to discuss the alleged lack of interest in serving Guayaquil by foreign airlines that only arrive to Quito.
A discussion with the Chamber of Tourism of Guayas, the Federation of Provincial Chambers (FENACAPTUR) and Sandra Naranjo, minister of the branch, will take place the first week of July to seek answers, especially about fact that some foreign airlines have withdrawn from Guayaquil.
In Quito, the reality is different, some foreign airlines request an authorization to open new routes. Guayaquil tourist servers express their dissatisfaction with an alleged lack of tourism promotion of the city by responsible parties at local and national level. “Why is our airport just 10 or 15 minutes away from major hotels, what is the benefit of being the closest airport to the Galapagos Islands if Tagsa does not make rapprochement efforts with airlines and cities?.”
