LimeWire no Longer Works
Posted On 29 Oct 2010
The popular music site LimeWire—founded ten years ago—was forced to disable the function to share and download music from Internet by a U.S. court order this week.
The music industry took legal actions against the company and its founder, Mark Gorton, before. Wook Kimba, District Judge, ordered LimeWire to cut “searching, downloading, uploading, file marketing and / or any software functionality” of the company.
The lawsuit was filed in 2007 by the American Association of Record Industry, which is estimated to receive over one billion dollars in damages.
