Maracana: Selected for Brazil 2014 World Cup

The legendary Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro will host the final of the 2014 World Cup- Brazil, while the opening match will take place in Sao Paulo, on Thursday officially announced the secretary general of the International Federation (FIFA), Jerome Valcke .
The inaugural meeting is scheduled for June 12, 2014 and will end on 13 July. FIFA also announced that the match for third place will take place in Brasilia and the semifinals will be played in Belo Horizonte and Sao Paulo.
The choice for the final Maracana seemed obvious, but FIFA had not formalized the decision, due to various delays that have occurred in the works of Brazilian stadiums.
