Maria Fernanda Luzuriaga Fired from her Post at the Cofiec

COFIEC
Until yesterday, Maria Fernanda Luzuriaga was the executive president of Cofiec bank, financial institution that is under the administration of the Public Law Management Unit of the Trusteeship AGD-CFN No More Impunity, lead by Pedro Delgado.
The separation decision was based on Article 184 of the Labor Code which establishes the figure of unjustified layoff.
According to press reports, the dismissal it’s a result of the lawsuit processed by the 24 Civil Court of Pichincha, signed by Luzuriaga, against businessman Gaston Duzac, for failure to pay the loan for $ 800,000 that was awarded by Cofiec bank. This action revealed a number of irregularities in the delivery of such payment.
Duzac, who maintained communications with Pedro Delgado and Francisco Endara, coordinator of the Secretariat of the Trusteeship AGD-CFN No more impunity at that time, presented business assets seized by the state as security for the loan.
Luzuriaga started in Cofiec as a replacement for Antonio Buñay, who proposed the credit approval for Duzac in December 2011.
