Maria Isabel Salvador, new president of the Governing Council in Galapagos
Jorge Torres Pallo, current governor of the province of Galapagos will formally transfer the presidency of the Governing Council to Maria Isabel Salvador, Ambassador of Ecuador to the Organization of American States (OAS).
In the upcoming days will be held the inauguration ceremony, which expects the assistance of President Rafael Correa.
In his last saturday broadcast, Correa announced this change and said that despite the work done, there are still “many problems like disorder, a lot of abuse, anarchy, lack of policies. ”
Torres, in addition of his Governor position, also presided the Governing Council of Galapagos for a year an a half, representing Correa. During Torres’ management, he reinforced the immigration control of tourists and of the 25.124 islanders
