Mariano Zambrano will vote in trial against former tenant Carlos Pólit

Governor of Manabi Mariano Zambrano Segovia knew the former comptroller general Carlos Pólit, accused of concussion, for allegedly abusing of his power to demand money. Pólit leased his suite located in the north of Quito to Zambrano. On June 2, the Office of the Prosecutor and the Police raided this department in an investigation that is being carried out on the Odebrecht corruption case. The assemblyman, 31, says he was not on the site that day.
Ramiro García, president of the Bar Association of Pichincha, warns that the issue has no legal implications. That is, no offenses have been committed. Rather, he says this issue is a matter of ethics.
For the legislator of the Creo party Héctor Yépez, the subject must be investigated thoroughly before issuing a criterion. Now it is significant, he adds, because of the situation, but the authorities must determine if there is anything else behind. (I)
