Mario Maldonado appealed decision of the CNE to dismiss his candidacy to the Pichincha Prefecture
After the Provincial Delegation of the National Electoral Council of Pichincha dismissed the candidacy of Mario Maldonado for the Prefecture of the province, for the movement Adelante Ecuatoriano Adelante (AEA), the politician handed over to the Contentious Electoral Tribunal (TCE), an appeal, protected by article 244 of the Code of Democracy.
In the document, Maldonado requested that the appeal be accepted after they demonstrated that several proofs about the irregularities that, as indicated, were given in the Provincial Directorate of Pichincha, as in the Board.
Also, revoke the office in which the nomination of Maldonado is rejected, signed by the President of the Board, Luisana Becerra Bonilla. That the processing of the documentation of the candidate be arranged and that the TCE call the attention of the official in reference to the members of the organization in this case.
In exclusive statements to Ecuadorinmediato.com, Maldonado reiterated that his candidacy was delivered on time, on December 21, 2018, then CNE officials informed him that his documents were lost because, presumably, there are political and economic groups that gave this order.
The politician explained that this type of action could set a very serious precedent for the country, since his constitutional and democratic rights were violated. (I)
