McWeddings Debut in Hong Kong
Many will start to love McDonald’s even more in Hong Kong since the famous burguer chain now allows couples to celebrate marriages in their restaurants. The first McWedding was celebrated on Valentine’s day, this week.
The “Warm and sweet wedding package,” is now at the Mc Donald’s menu for just HK$9999 ($1282) and it includes wedding gifts, pink invitation cards emblazoned with golden arches, decor featuring the likes of Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar, and classic golden arches fare worth up to $385. And off course the McWedding would not give a full fast food experience if it did not offer extras for an additional minimum price; a “white balloon” gown rental ($165), balloon corsage ($11), balloon wedding cake ($88), and a large pink McDonalds backdrop ($321).
“People date here, they grew their love here, so when they have this important day they want to come over here,” said Shirley Chang, the managing director of Hong Kong’s McDonald’s outlets.
There are already two weddings booked for this year and about 70 other couples are still discussing if they want to celebrate their marriage with an alcohol-free reception and lots of hungry wedding Crashers and screaming children running around since the restaurant would remain open to public during the marriage ceremony.
