Mexican Humberto Velez, the voice of Homer Simpson, in Ecuador
Mexican actor Humberto Velez, Homer Simpson character’s voice in the Latin American version, is visiting our country and is prepared to offer a stand-up comedy show in the Ecuadorian capital.
The show called “Me quiero volver chango” (I want to be a monkey) will be held tonight in Quito. Joining him will be Colombian comedian Julian Arango, who will opened the evening, whose show lasts 45 minutes. Velez’s show is scheduled for an hour, but could be extended.
Humberto Velez was born in Veracruz, Mexico in 1955. He did Homer Simpson’s voice for 15 years, from May 1990 to May 2005. Now he does shows that include the voices of many of the characters he played, especially Homer.
Velez has also done voice-overs for Winnie the Pooh, Monsters Inc., Shrek, Stuart Little and Pirates of the Caribbean, among other films.
“Me quiero volver chango” will start at 20:30 today at the National Theatre of the Casa de la Cultura Benjamín Carrión. The tickets prices are between $45 and $75.
