Military Forces confiscate military equipment during control operation over the border with Colombia
Amid an operational border control, the Operations Command No.1 North, found last Saturday, ordnance, explosives and quartermaster equipment, in the field of Barranca Bermeja, on the banks of the San Miguel river, in the province of Sucumbíos.
Through a statement, the military reported that among the found elements were: ammunition, rocket propelled grenades, gunpowder, ordinary capsules, 5.56 mm ammunition, hand grenades, 40 mm grenades, clothing and quartermaster communications equipment, which “presumably would go to members of illegal armed groups in Colombia (GIAC)”.
During the operation, the officers arrested two people who were in the place of the discovery. The statement said that the arrest of the two individuals was performed in the presence of authorities of Sucumbíos “in compliance with the protocols of human rights”.
