The Ministry of Labor established a 2.2% increase for salaries and minimum wages in the private sector, starting January 1, 2024.

Since January 1, 2024, the percentage increase for sectoral minimum salaries and wages in the private sector is 2.2% compared to 2023 salaries, according to the MDT-2023-180 agreement of the Ministry of Labor, published in the Official register.
This is the same percentage increase applied to the unified basic salary (SBU), which went from USD 450 in 2023 to USD 460 in 2024.
The increases for salaries and minimum wages must be applied in the following sectors, according to their respective occupational structures:
- Agriculture and plantations
- livestock production
- Fishing, aquaculture and mariculture
- Mines, quarries and deposits
- Food processing (including agribusiness)
- Industrial, pharmaceutical and chemical products
- Industrial production of beverages and tobacco
- Metalworking
- Textile products, leather and footwear
- Vehicles, motor vehicles, bodies and their parts
- Technology: hardware and software
- Electricity, gas and water
- Construction
- Marketing and sale of products
- Tourism, food, transport and logistics
- Financial services
- Service activities
- Teaching activities
- Health activities
- Community activities
For the increase to be applied, the name of the position and activity must be specific and stated in the employment contract.
