Ministry of Health will inoculate second dose of AstraZeneca after 84 days
A total of 1,370,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19 have arrived in Ecuador. The drug, produced by the British laboratory, is one of the most time-off between the first and second doses.

This decision is based on clinical trials on the effectiveness of the vaccine after a certain time.
According to the Advisory Commission on Immunization Practices of Ecuador (ICSC), the effectiveness of the immunizer if the application of the second dose is extended. The European Medicines Agency had announced that the prudent thing to do was two months between each inoculation.
However, the ICSC suggested to the Ministry of Health that the application of the biological be more days because clinical trials show that the level of antibodies increases and covid-19 is better prevented.
The Ministry of Health informed this Thursday, June 24, 2021, an interval of 12 weeks will be applied for people inoculated with AstraZeneca. After 84 days of receiving the first dose, the user will be able to complete the immunization process.
The Ministry of State carries out the inoculation process through the 9/100 Vaccination Plan, which aims to inoculate nine million citizens by September 2021. Other vaccines are also supplied in Ecuador, such as Pfizer and Sinovac, whose interval is only 28 days.
