Mohammed Morsi Seeks to Return the Egyptian Parliament

Mohammed Morsi
Yesterday the Egyptian president, Mohammed Morsi, pronounced that he plans to reinstate the Parliament ruled by Islamists. Morsi ordered the immediate return of the legislators elected in 2011. Most of them were from Morsi political party.
Morsi also asked for a new parliamentary election that would be performed in 60 days after the approval of a new Constitution, which is expected to be ready for the final of this year.
The Egyptian president emitted a decree that removes the resolution dictated by the Supreme Council of Armed Forces by which the Parliament was dissolved the past June 15.
After Morsi’s announcement, the Supreme Council of Armed Forces in Egypt met with urgency to evaluate the reestablishment of the Lower Chamber of the Parliament ordered by the new president. (AV)
