Montufar joins SUMA as Assemblyman for Pichincha
The leader and presidential candidate of the Concertacion movement, Cesar Montufar, joined the movement of Mauricio Rodas, Sociedad Unida Mas Accion (SUMA), as leader in the list of assembly members for Pichincha, to take part in 2013 elections, since the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) did not approved legal status by failing to present the required number of support signatures.
The union was demonstrated in an agreement between the two movements, which includes three national objectives:
- Restore democracy and Social and Democratic State of Law.
- Eradicate poverty and create equal opportunities for all Ecuadorians.
- Build quality jobs and cause a major productive jump of economy.

Cesar Montufar, at the time of signing the agreement, said that the intention is to “dismantle the authority building full of the amassed power that currently chokes Ecuadorian democracy, to protect the freedoms and rights of individuals, to retrieve the institutional foundations of a social and democratic state of law, and to promote safety, employment, production and insertion of Ecuador in the world.”
Rodas has not yet defined a binomial, he is expected to appoint an official candidate throughout this week. (MZ)
