More names of Ecuadorians listed in Panama Papers
The investigations coordinator of the international consortium of journalists that revealed the so-called “Panama Papers,” Marina Walker, says that the names of Prosecutor Galo Chiriboga, former president of the Central Bank Pedro Delgado and former representative of the Mossack-Fonseca firm in Quito, are not the unique Ecuadorian names that appear in the leaked documents.
“There are many other Ecuadorians in this list,” she said, and pointed out that the data will be published in May. “We believe that this information should be accessible to citizens.”
Walker explained that data of former or current officials were released because they are convinced that “individuals serving a public function have a greater responsibility to render account of why they chose such a nontransparent mechanism.”
