More than 4 thousand companies chose to suspend the working day
Due to the health emergency, 6,027 companies nationwide have accepted the suspension, reduction or emergency modification of the working day . This was reported by the Ministry of Labor on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 in a statement.

Of that number, 684 have opted for the reduction of the working day of about 26 thousand employees . The reduction can be up to 30 hours a week , for a maximum of six months, the statement said.
It is possible to renew this measure for an additional six months on one occasion.
Due to their productive activities, 488 companies have registered the emerging modification of the working day for more than eight thousand workers.
This modification may include the development of activities on Saturdays and Sundays without exceeding 40 hours of weekly work .
On the other hand, 4,855 companies have accepted the suspension of the day with more than 89 thousand workers.
The document clarifies that the ” suspension of the working day does not imply the end of the employment relationship .” The worker must recover the hours suspended when the health emergency ends.
The worker who does not take advantage of the recovery schedule will not receive the corresponding remuneration ; or if it is the case, you must return to the employer what you have received for remuneration during the time of emergent suspension of the working day.
With the aim of guaranteeing job stability and precautionary the country’s economy during the health emergency, the Ministry of Labor issued Ministerial Agreement No. MDT-2020-077 that allows the private sector to reduce, modify or suspend the workday in an emergency .
