Moreno rules out economic “packages.”
Posted On 01 Aug 2017
Ecuadornews:
Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno estimated that his country this year would “barely” get out of the delicate financial situation it has been going through since 2015 and ruled out packages or adjustment measures that affect Ecuadorians.
“This year we will barely go ahead,” said Moreno in his weekly address, in which he insisted that his country will require between 8 and 10 billion dollars annually to pay the debt inherited from the past administration of his coreligionist Rafael Correa.
According to Moreno, in the past “we did not act with responsibility” regarding public indebtedness and pointed out that education, health, security, and defense budgets are now required to “pay an inherited debt.” (I)
