Mubarak Will Be Judged on August 3rd

Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Mohamed Mania, confirmed today that the trial of former President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, will be on August 3 in Cairo.

Mubarak’s sons, Alaa and Gamal, and businessman Hussein Salemalso be presented in court.Mubarak, who is hospitalized in Sharm el-Sheikh because of his poor health, and his children are accused of abuse of power and illite enrichment. Next week, they will also be judged by their involvement in the attacks of protesters who took the Tahrir Square earlier this year and forced the collapse of the former president on 11 January. During the riots 850 people were killed.

In Egypt, criminal defendants have to spend all of their days in a cell-cage. The trial will be broadcasted on Egyptian television.
