Music Therapy, a Fun Way of Support
The Music Therapy Department at Beth Israel Medical Center was funded through a generous grant from the Louis Armstrong Foundation in 1994. The Department has grown into a rich and exciting clinic that supports the community with an interesting program of clinical services.
The music therapists of the Louis & Lucille Armstrong Music Therapy Program conduct daily sessions with patients in many areas of the hospital like Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Maternity, Oncology, Orthopedics, Hospice, among others.
The clinic also serves children with developmental delays such as PDD (Pervasive developmental disorder), ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder ) and Autism, and teens who have depression.
Music therapists at the clinic also treat adults who have Parkinson‘s or Alzheimer‘s disease or those who are post stroke. Additionally, the program serves people who are at any and all stages of cancer.
Music Therapy has never been so miraculous. Its benefits surpass expectations abroad and will continue doing so. MZ
