Network dedicated to human trafficking is dismantled
Two Colombians, a hindu and three Ecuadorians were captured yesterday in an operation conducted by six prosecutors of Quito, for allegedly being part of an organization dedicated to human trafficking from Ecuador to the United States.
The operation was carried out as 04:00 in the sectors of Comite del Pueblo in the North and Plaza Foch, in La Mariscal, six properties and four commercial premises were under siege. At that same time, in Bogota, and Cartagena, Colombia, country’s authorities carried out a similar operation.
Investigations that began five months ago, determined that the so-called path used by the suspects began in Ecuador, passed through Colombia and toured Central America, and was also found the way in which they obtained the illegal documents for Ecuadorians to leave the country.
According to the inquiries, foreigners offered their victims jobs in the United States, and interviews were carried out in the sectors of Comite del Pueblo and Plaza Foch in Quito.
The Prosecutor Galo Chiriboga said the previous week, during a seminar of human trafficking , that during his administration, approximately 300 cases have been investigated.
