New elections in Egypt will be in 2014
Adli Mansur, the current interim president of Egypt confirmed last Monday a timetable for the process to amend the constitution and carry out elections for president and parliament, which would be held in early 2014.
According to the constitutional declaration made by Mansur, this would create two commissions to work on amendments to the Constitution made by Islamists. This had been approved during the administration of the ousted president Mohammed Morsi.
In the next four months a referendum would be held to specify the new constitution. Two months after the referendum would be held elections to choose a new Parliament in the month of February.
After the new legislators come together, they would have a week to set a date for new presidential elections.
