New logo IEPI causes controversy in social networks

IEPI new logo causes controversy
The Ecuadorian Institute of Intellectual Property (IEPI) launched its new logo, which was designed by the advertising agency Maxtimsa, which was hired in November 2012. However, some creative’s showed that it bears a resemblance to a free access logo on Internet.
According to the dean of design at the University of the Americas, Edwin Troya, logo obtained from Internet is “better and more elaborate” while Maxtimsa defended his work by saying that “… all creation is born with a pencil … typing based on this idea, we start with a pencil that comes from a whirlwind or tornado representing brainstorming is the starting point of the whole creative process.”
Troyanoted that there isn’t “an important work of creativity here,” as the new logo of the IEPE that is exactly like the logo found on the Internet.
After this event many graphic designers expressed their contempt on social networks, as the IEPI represents the importance of protecting intellectual property.
